The Legend Of Zelda
The Legend of Zelda, also known as Zelda 1, was the first Zelda title, released on the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) in 1987, but originally released on the Famicom Disk System on February 21, 1986. The game follows a young swordsman in a green tunic named Link, who has to save the kingdom of Hyrule from the Prince of Darkness, Ganon. Link must travel across Hyrule, completing dungeons, to collect the eight fragments of the Triforce of Wisdom that Zelda scattered around Hyrule, to break the spell Ganon placed on Death Mountain, to defeat Ganon.
The Legend of Zelda A Link to the Past
The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, is the third main Zelda game released by Nintendo. It was released on the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) on November 21, 1991, and was the only Zelda game to be released on the SNES. This game was the first Zelda game to feature the Master Sword, as well as the concept of two separate worlds. In the game, a dark wizard named Agahnim takes over Hyrule and kidnaps seven Maidens (including Zelda). The game follows a young hero named Link, who receives a telepathic plea from Zelda, rescues her, and then learns he has to set out on a journey to wield the Master Sword. Link then must travel between the Light and Dark worlds to rescue the descendents of the Seven Sages, to defeat Agahnim, who eventually reveals himself as Ganon.
The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is the fifth main Zelda game released by Nintendo. THe game was the first Zelda game released on the Nintendo 64 in 1998. The game is widely considered to be one of the best Zelda games, and one of the best games released of all time, as well as being an incredibly influential game. The game was also remade for the 3ds in 2011, and is suspected to receive a remaster for the Nintendo Switch 2 in December 2026. The game follows a young boy raised in Kokiri forest named Link, who embarks on a quest to stop the Gerudo king Ganondorf from obtaining the Triforce. Using the Ocarina of Time and drawing the Master Sword, Link must travel through time and awaken the Seven Sages to save the Kingdom of Hyrule.
The Legend of Zelda Majora's Mask
The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask is the sixth main Zelda game released by Nintendo, being the second and last Zelda game released on the Nintendo 64, in 2000. The game is a direct sequel to Ocarina of Time, and follows the story directly after Link defeats Ganondorf in Ocarina of Time, and returns to his timeline. The story follows the young boy in search of his fairy companion, Navi, but ends up getting ambushed by the Skull Kid controlled by Majora’s Mask and sent to the parallel world of Termina. Link discovers Termina is in great danger, as the moon is about to crash into it in 3 days due to the mask's dark magic. Link must retrieve and use his Ocarina to loop time over, then navigate four regions and soothe the spirits there, collecting magical masks, to eventually confront Skull Kid, and defeat the malevolent entity inside the mask, freeing Skull Kid.
The Legend of Zelda The Wind Waker
The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker is the tenth main Zelda game released by Nintendo. The game was released on the Gamecube in 2003, while also receiving a full high-definition remaster in 2013 for the Wii U. Despite the game's cartoony appearance which was originally criticized, the game became the fourth best selling Gamecube game, and is highly beloved by fans. The game follows the story of a young boy named Link, who has to sail the Great Sea that had flooded Hyrule, in order to save his younger sister. ALong the way, Link meets a pirate named Tetra. After Link confronts and is defeated by a warlock who turns out to be Ganondorf, he is rescued by a talking boat. Link then must travel the Great Sea to restore the Master Sword's strength. In seeking out Ganondorf, Link learns that Tetra is a descendent of Zelda and wields a piece of the Triforce. Together, the two defeat Ganondorf, and sails across the sea to discover new land.
The Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess
The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess is the thirteenth main Zelda game released by Nintendo. The game was released both for the Gamecube and as a launch title for the Wii in 2006. The game also received an official HD remaster 10 years later for the Wii U in 2016. The game follows the story of Link, a rancher who has to save Hyrule from a corrupted shadow filled parallel dimension known as the Twilight Realm. Aided by an imp and former leader of the Twilight Realm, Midna. The two embark on a journey to defeat the usurper king of twilight Zant, and the dark lord Ganondorf.
The Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword
The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword is the sixteenth main Zelda game released by Nintendo. The game was released specifically for the Wii in 2011, taking advantage of the Wii’s motion controls. The game also released a high-definition remaster for the Nintendo Switch 10 years later in 2021. The game's story chronologically is the first in the timeline, and follows the story of a young knight named Link who lives in a floating city above the clouds named Skyloft. Link must save his childhood friend and the reincarnation of the goddess Hylia, by undergoing sacred trials to transform the Goddess Sword into the Master Sword, and defeat the Demon King Demise twice, once by using the Triforce, and another by travelling back in time to kill Demise, absorbing his spirit into the Master Sword. It is here when Demise curses anyone with the spirit of the hero (Link) and the one who carries the blood of the goddess Hylia (Zelda) to be bound to the incarnation of his hatred (Ganon).
The Legend of Zelda A Link Between Worlds
The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds is the seventeenth main Zelda game released by Nintendo. The game was the first Zelda game released for the 3ds in 2013, and is an indirect sequel to The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. The game follows Link as he has to save both Hyrule and its mirror-dimension Lorule from an evil sorcerer named Yuga that's on the brink of destruction. Yuga kidnaps descendants of the Seven Sages and Zelda, and Link, using the Master Sword and the power to turn into a painting granted by Ravio, saves the Seven Sages and receives the Triforce of Courage. Link then defeats Yuga alongside Ravio, who turns out to be Lorule's version of Link, and returns to Hyrule with Zelda, using the full Triforce to restore Lorule's Triforce as it was destroyed long ago, granting peace to both kingdoms.
The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is the nineteenth main Zelda game released by Nintendo. The game, similar to Twilight Princess, was released both for the Wii U and as a launch title for the Nintendo Switch in 2017. The game is the best selling Zelda game in the series, and introduced many fans to the franchise. The game also received an enhanced remaster for the Nintendo Switch 2, as well as a DLC in two parts, releasing in the second half of 2017. The game follows the story of Link, the appointed knight of Zelda, waking up from a rest 100 years later to find Hyrule destroyed and under the control of Calamity Ganon. Instructed by the spirit of the dead king, Link seeks out Impa and learns he has to save the 4 allied races of Hyrule from the Divine beasts, which are under Ganon’s control, and recover his memories to prepare himself to defeat Calamity Ganon, who has been held off by Princess Zelda for 100 years.
The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is the twentieth main Zelda game released by Nintendo. The game released for the Nintendo Switch in 2023, and similar to Breath of the Wild, received an enhanced remastered version for the Nintendo Switch 2 with smoother framerate and 4k resolution. The game's story begins with Zelda and Link exploring beneath Hyrule castle, and end up finding the mummified body of the Demon King Ganondorf. Ganon revives, destroys the Master Sword, and lifts Hyrule castle into the sky, opening up chasms across Hyrule, and causing Zelda to fall through time to Hyrule's founding. Using help from the ancient king of Hyrule, Rauru, Link discovers Zelda aided Rauru, his wife Sonia and the ancient sages against Ganondorf in the imprisoning war, as well as turned into a light dragon to revive the Master Sword. Link’s goal is to travel to Hyrule’s 4 allied races and help the sage's descendents awaken their Sage powers. With help from the sages, Link faces off against the reincarnated Demon King beneath Hyrule Castle, and defeats him once and for all.
